About Me
Hi all, my name is Taryn, I am originally from South Africa. I have been in New Zealand for nearly 30 years and in that time I have worked with children with all kinds of needs I have worked in E.C.E, Nanny, In-Home Childcare, Teacher Aide, and private caregiving for special needs teens and adults. I have one 17 year old son and 3 step children who I love madly. Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted to look after children, I come from a huge family and I always looked after my cousins.
I love being a home-based Educator – providing a loving, safe and secure environment for children grow in alongside others. It is like a “home away from home” where they are part of a small group, benefiting from all of the extra time and attention that they get. I’m looking forward to meeting you and your child/children and I can’t wait to get to know them, their special personality, and experience the growing, learning, laughing and playing in a safe, happy, quiet and caring environment.
Our Time Together
I believe in treating all children with love, respect, and patience. When I am with children I bring a sense of safety, love, comfort, trust, and happiness in my skills to keep any child in my care safe and happy at all times. I am a person that loves to love, and to make everyone around me happy whether it’s in my personal life or work life.
In my home “their home away from home” I value a calm, happy, safe environment where children will feel safe and content. The day includes doing the weather, date, day, month, year, feelings and a morning circle. Programme events with Stems FROM HOME, music and movement at home, dancing, and learning about our bodies. We have a park across the road, a beautiful and safe outdoor area. We can also meet up with other Stems Educators for play dates so children get to experience mixing and mingling. We enjoy ball skills, painting, arts and crafts. I also love taking the children on community walks to learn more about the world around them.
Stems FROM HOME Programme
Stems FROM HOME offers a varied and engaging weekly programme for all of our Educators and tamariki to enjoy together, and whānau/families are always welcome to join in as well. Our activities include Stems Music sessions in Howick and Pōkeno, Rest Home visits in Pakuranga and Pukekohe, Playgym experiences during the winter terms in Pukekohe and Howick, as well as larger group experiences, celebrations, and special planned events. These opportunities help strengthen our community connections, support children’s learning through shared experiences, and nurture a sense of belonging across our Stems whānau.
All upcoming events and details are shared in our term flyer.
