About Me

Hi all, my name is Taryn, I am originally from South Africa.  I have been in New Zealand for 26 years and in that time I have worked with children with all kinds of needs  I have worked in E.C.E, Nanny, In-Home Childcare, Teacher Aide, and private caregiving for special needs teens and adults.  I have one 17 year old son and 3 step children who I love madly.  Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted to look after children, I come from a huge family and I always looked after my cousins.

I look forward to becoming a home-based Educator for the second time now as that way I am home for my family when needed and I still get to spend time with children within a home setting.  I have always loved the idea of home-based care as it’s a home away from home, small, with less children, so your children get the extra time and attention.  I’m looking forward to meeting you and your child/children and I can’t wait to get to know them, their special personality, and experience the growing, learning, laughing and playing in a safe, happy, quiet and caring environment.

Our Time Together

I believe in treating all children with love, respect, and patience.  When I am with children I bring a sense of safety, love, comfort, trust, and happiness in my skills to keep any child in my care safe and happy at all times.  I am a person that loves to love, and to make everyone around me happy whether it’s in my personal life or work life.

In my home “their home away from home” I value a calm, happy, safe environment where children will feel safe and content.  The day will include doing the weather, date, day, month, year, feelings and a morning circle.  Playgroups with Stems FROM HOME, music and movement at home, dancing, and learning about our bodies.  We have a park across the road, a beautiful and safe outdoor area.  We will meet up with other Stems Educators for play dates so children get to experience mixing and mingling.  We will have ball skills, painting, arts and crafts  Summer will be amazing – we will get to go to different fenced parks for picnics and out in the community.

Stems FROM HOME Programme

Stems FROM HOME run a varied weekly programme that all of our Educators and whānau are welcome to attend. This includes;

Playgroup, Little Groovers Music, Korikori Tinana/Active Movement, Kaititiro Whenua (community explorers), and Art in The Park.  We also frequently visit the local Rest Home and O Wairoa Marae, and do workshops for the children at Bunnings. All information is shared in our term flyer.
