About Me

Kia Ora I live in Leeston with my husband and three children.  We built here when my eldest was a baby, moving from the city suburbs, as we loved the feel of the rural town and thought it would be a great place for our kids to grow up.

As a family we very much enjoy outdoor activities such as tramping, boating, rogaine, camping, beach play, bush walks, gardening and generally just anything outside.

I’ve been a stay at home Mum since my second child was born so moving into an Educator position feels like a natural step to take. I do adore playing with children and watching them explore and discover at their pace while they take the lead in their own learning journey. I have been involved with Playcentre since 2017 and have achieved some qualifications through their education program. I look forward to extending that with my Level 4 certificate in Early Childhood Education.

As a Homebased Educator I want my home to be an extension of your child’s own home. I aim to help them feel welcomed and relaxed so they can get busy playing and exploring the wonderful areas of play I have on offer here.

Our Time Together

“The mud will wash off but the memories will last a lifetime.”

We have a good sized back yard that flows from the house to a play fort with swings, trampoline, hammock and sand pit with mud kitchen and loose parts play. We have several large vegetable gardens and plenty of fruit trees and berry bushes around our property. Inside we have two lounges as the main play spaces which are clear and calming with lego, duplo, and a handful of open ended toys, along with natural toys such as rocks, driftwood and shells. A cosy reading nook with cushions and blankets is a nice quiet place to escape for a recharge too. We have other toys that can be brought out to set up invitations to play depending on the interests of the tamariki at the time.

We utilise the Playcentre I attend with my own children to extend our play and meet more tamariki in our community to build connections. The local library have a rhyme time session for songs and music play, and we visit our local parks not far from my home. We cook and bake together, which tamariki just love to get involved in. In the school holidays we may do a couple special excursions based on the interests of the tamariki at the time.

Stems FROM HOME Programme

Stems FROM HOME run a varied weekly programme that all of our Educators, tamariki and whānau are welcome to attend. This includes;

Playgroup in Izone at our Stems base, Little Explorers (outdoor experiences and outings) and Music and Movement group in winter terms. Our Playgroup sessions include regular arts and crafts, imaginary play, chances to explore individual interests, as well as other fun visitors depending on current interests. All information is shared in our term flyers and planned from the children’s burgeoning interests.
