About Me

Kia ora! My name is  Andrea, and I am a passionate home-based Educator with over 15 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. I live with my two wonderful children, Molly and Isaac, and our friendly dog Harvey. I hold a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education, a Diploma in Infants and Toddlers, as well as Montessori Education, and I’m certified in Child Protection and First Aid.

My home offers a safe, nurturing, and play-rich environment where children can learn, explore, and grow at their own pace. I believe in the power of learning through play and strive to create a calm, welcoming space that feels just like home—for both tamariki and their whānau.

One of things I love about home-based care is the relationships you can build between families and tamariki. I see my home-based children as an extension to my own family and my children love to interact with the children when they are not at school or during the school holidays.

Our Time Together

As part of the learning programme, Stems FROM HOME have playgroups, ‘Little Explorers’ nature playgroup, rest home visits, and various learning activities facilitated by Stems that we enjoy to take part in.

As part of my home-based programme I enjoy taking the children to planned and spontaneous outings including library story times, music and movement sessions and on the odd occasion visiting our favourite cafe for a fluffie. We have a fantastic playground within walking distance from my home that we also like to visit.

Stems FROM HOME Programme

Stems FROM HOME run a varied weekly programme that all of our Educators, tamariki and whānau are welcome to attend. This includes;

Playgroup in Izone at our Stems base, Little Explorers (outdoor experiences and outings) and Music and Movement group in winter terms. Our Playgroup sessions include regular arts and crafts, imaginary play, chances to explore individual interests, as well as other fun visitors depending on current interests. All information is shared in our term flyers and planned from the children’s burgeoning interests.
