About Me

Kia Ora e te Whānau, my name is Christine and I live in Rolleston with my husband Mukesh and our daughter Bella. As a family we love spending time together, watching movies, cooking, eating and hanging out with friends.
I gained my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching in 2014 and after five years of working with all ages in the preschool setting, I made a big move to Home-based care. I am very passionate about forming great relationships with tamariki and providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to develop their full potential. I love how I am able to provide this in my home environment with a small group of children.
As a Stems FROM HOME Educator, I believe that children learn through play, in their own time and space. It is important that we provide a nurturing, loving, safe and fun environment that will enable children to grow into confident learners.

Our Time Together

I set up activities and have great indoor and outdoor resources that provide opportunities for children to develop their skills and knowledge. I also alternate set-up resources and activities based on children’s current interest for learning. We love to explore the outdoors and enjoy lots of messy, sensory and sandpit play.
Exploring our local community is a part of our programme and includes going for walks, ride bikes, play at the local playground and feed the rakiraki. I believe that this is important for children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.
We enjoy reading books and boards stories which are a big part of our daily routine. We also love using our imagination in all aspects of our play. I am looking forward working alongside your tamariki and getting to know your whānau.

Stems FROM HOME Programme

Stems FROM HOME run a varied weekly programme that all of our Educators, tamariki and whānau are welcome to attend. This includes;

Playgroup in Izone at our Stems base, Little Explorers (outdoor experiences and outings) and Music and Movement group in winter terms. Our Playgroup sessions include regular arts and crafts, imaginary play, chances to explore individual interests, as well as other fun visitors depending on current interests. All information is shared in our term flyers and planned from the children’s burgeoning interests.
